3 Steps to Reset Your Morning Energy

Not every morning do we bounce out of bed, full of energy and ready to meet the day. If you find yourself dragging, here are three quick ways to raise your vibe. And yes, taking the extra time to do them is worth it. It’s an investment that will pay you back more many times over. You can’t take out of the bank account without putting in.

  1. 🏃🏽‍♀️Move your body: even if it feels like the last thing you want to do, start moving. This doesn’t mean you need to push yourself out the door and start running, although this can certainly help. Meet your body where it is. If it’s a slow day, let it be slow. You can begin gently: wiggle your toes, your fingers, roll your neck, do a couple of cat-cows. If you like morning yoga, you can do a yoga practice that is more slow stretching than blood pumping. Outside is always a good way to shift our energy, so maybe take yourself for a little stroll: to the corner coffee shop or through a nearby park.

  2. 🎶 Listen to your favorite song: Along with movement, cue up your favorite tunes. You might surprise yourself: maybe there is a big cry that wants to be released and you just needed to listen to your fav high school ballad to get it going. Maybe all it takes is one cheesy pop song for you to find yourself having an impromptu dance party in your pajamas. Whether the mood takes you somewhere sweet, or sad, or energizing - letting yourself have a moment to follow the mood will restore you.

  3. 🍳 Fuel up: Food is mood! Consider your morning breakfast choice - what kind of energy does your body need? Sometimes we need a nutrient-dense breakfast, full of nuts and whole grains and big, leafy greens. Or maybe you’re craving last night’s dinner for breakfast. Maybe you’re getting your period and you just need some dark chocolate. While awareness over whole nutrition is essential, listen to your body. If you’re having a slow and sleepy morning - can you treat yourself to breakfast out? Make an extra decadent smoothie? Giving yourself some nosh that feels extra good is going to boost your mood and your body.
