Thinking Beyond the Tool: What AI Actually Requires From You

There’s no shortage of conversation about AI right now. But a lot of it stays at the surface: tools, prompts, and what to try next.

In Week 6 of the AdaMarie Career Accelerator, Kima Sargsyan took a different approach. The session focused less on what to use and more on how to think.

Here are three things that stood out:

1. Using AI well has less to do with the tool and more to do with you

Access isn’t the differentiator anymore.

The real difference shows up in how clearly you can define a problem, apply context, and make decisions about what to trust, change, or push further. The tool can generate output. It can’t replace your judgment.

2. Faster doesn’t always mean better

One of the easiest traps with AI is accepting something because it’s quick and coherent.

But speed can mask gaps.

Part of using these tools well is knowing when to slow down—when to question what you’re seeing and make sure it actually does what you need it to do.

3. The skill isn’t keeping up. It’s building better thinking habits

There’s a lot of pressure to stay current.

But this session made it clear that trying to keep up with every new feature or tool isn’t the goal. The people who get the most out of AI are the ones who develop a strong point of view and know how to apply it consistently.

If you’ve been experimenting with AI but aren’t sure how to make it meaningfully useful in your work, this conversation will give you a clearer way to approach it.
